About Me

Hi everyone! Thank you for visiting my page!

My name is Sishir Pasumarthy and I am a 5th year Master’s student in the accelerated BE/MS program in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at Stony Brook University with an anticipated graduation date of May 2021. I received my bachelor’s of engineering degree from Stony Brook University in May 2020 with a concentration in cellular and molecular engineering. My ultimate goal is to complete an MD/PhD program with a research focus in immunology so that I can eventually become a physician scientist that will design and study immunotherapies to address cancers and other diseases.

My experiences have been very broad at Stony Brook; they include device engineering, programming, animal studies, and cell culture work. I am currently a graduate research assistant in Dr. Mei Lin Chan’s Osteoimmunology lab where I am performing cell culture studies to optimize the biomanufacturing of cellular immunotherapies such as CAR T cell therapy. Please check out my Research Projects & Presentations page for more detailed info!

I am a Massachusetts native who likes to think that he has assimilated into the Long Island/New York culture. Outside of classes and research at Stony Brook University, I have been involved in many clubs & organizations such as Alpha Eta Mu Beta (The International Biomedical Engineering Honor Society) and the Doctors Without Borders Student Chapter. Some of my hobbies and interests include hiking, running, watching football (Patriots), drawing and making memes ;). Please check out my Extracurricular Activities page for more info!
