Education and future

BS in Psychology, Stony Brook University, Stony Brook, New York, Graduating: May 2020: I elaborate the “education” section of my CV in order to show what a psychology major (with a minor in writing and biology) means for me in terms of my professional aspirations and career prospects that I see ahead of me.

Psychology major: I have had the opportunity to take a number of courses that serve as the foundation for my career aspirations in public policy and international relations.

Research and Writing in Psychology (PSY 310): Learned how to formulate individual research ideas into projects and how to write a research paper in psychology

Advanced Statistics (PSY 301): Learned how to analyze data using different types of methods and the differences between those methods

Behavior Deviation in Children (PSY 338): Learned the different developmental disorders that occur in children and adolescents and how psychologist diagnose the disorders

PSY 358 (Hormones and Behavior (PSY 358): Learned about how the different hormones in the human body can affect behaviors and how they can lead to disorders

Writing Minor: I completed a minor in Writing, which is offered by the Program in Writing and Rhetoric. The course in which I did this professional portfolio/blogfolio project was a part of the minor in writing.

The Personal Essay (WRT 303): Learned to write creative nonfiction autobiographies and how to incorporate personal stories into a personal statement

Writing for your Profession (WRT 304): Developed a professional blogfolio, learned how to write in the professional environment, and how to analyze different genres of writing

Biology Minor: As a biology minor, I was able to take various courses that taught me more about the human body as well as laboratory skills.

Into Biology Lab I and II (BIO 204 & 205): Experienced laboratory processes, research processes, and learned how to use a variety of laboratory tools

Biochemistry (BIO 361): Learned the major chemical constituents of cells, such as carbohydrates, lipids, and proteins

Dean’s List: I’ve so far made it on the Dean’s list every Fall and Spring semester since I joined Stony Brook University.

According to the Undergraduate Bulletin, “After each fall and spring semester the dean of each college compiles a Dean’s List of undergraduate students who constitute approximately the top 20 percent of their class. Each full-time student must have completed in that semester at least 12 credits for a letter grade (including S) and have no I’s, U’s, NR’s, NC’s, F’s, R’s or Q’s. P grades are not considered to be letter grades. Part-time students must have earned at least six credits in a semester of letter-graded work (not including S or P grades). The grade point average cutoffs are as follows: seniors, 3.40; juniors, 3.30; sophomores, 3.20; and freshmen, 3.10.”
