These are samples of Japanese samurai inspired typography. I tried to blend in elements of Japanese culture as well as the theme of samurais into the typography. The first image is a vector based image of a sashimono, or banner that were carried by elite samurais, usually the general’s guardsmen. I included symbolism of the japanese rising sun flag with the text reminiscent of brush strokes.

In the second image, its pixel based. The blood represents the life of a samurai as they give their lives to their shogun and would kill or be killed at any moment. It also again represents the japanese flag of the rising sun. The text is again like brush strokes, but of a more elegant nature compared to the rough dabble of a war time banner up top. It’s symbolic of samurais having both a violent, but also elegant side. The helmet represents the samurai himself, as most samurais had their helmets molded in the shape of their face, with the crest of his shogun on top. And the katana which was the soul of the samurai which would lie with them for all their life.
