Current Treatments + Solutions
While many people turn to various forms of therapy after having a stroke, some stroke patients choose to wear a mobile ECG patch called Zio XT which aims to identify the potential cause of the stroke. The device can be worn for up to two weeks after they’ve had a stroke, monitoring and analyzing the user’s heart rhythm data throughout the duration. The data about the heart’s electrical activity is crucial in understanding any underlying conditions that may have contributed to the stroke [1]. More specifically, the patch captures any irregularities such as arrhythmias that could indicate a risk of stroke or other heart issues.
One of the most notable advantages of the Zio XT is its convenience. The device can be worn without interfering with the users’ everyday lifestyle [1]. Data from the Zio XT is logged and accessible through a mobile app, making it simpler for patients and healthcare providers to review the information. Furthermore, the user can easily remove the device themselves, eliminating the need for hospital visits just to check on the equipment.
Put simply, the Zio XT offers stroke patients a continuous method for monitoring their heart health. The combination of its design and AI technology makes it a valuable tool for identifying potential causes of strokes, which can help healthcare providers make precise decisions about the patient’s treatment.
