Backstory:

This end user is a parent of a child who may be exhibiting certain symptoms relating to a diagnosis of an autism spectrum disorder or other mental health related condition that they wish to learn more of. This end user is typically in their thirties or older due to having a child of a relevant enough age to display signs of potential ASD/ADHD, etc. They likely do not have much experience with autism spectrum disorders outside of  the initial diagnosis given to them by their children’s doctors. They are often busy functioning in a caregiver role either through working or providing full or part time care to a child with a diagnosis.

Motivations:

This end user would come to this website to seek out more information regarding studies being performed related to Autism Spectrum Disorders either as a potential participant or in an effort to learn more so they that can better help their child. These end users may be primarily interested in opportunities that could ultimately lead to clinical or behavioral therapy developments that could increase the quality of life for their child and for themselves to be the best, most well equipped parent possible.

These end users want the website to function as an informative hub of resources and information for parents or those interested in autism research. This website is aimed to be the main form of contact between potential new research participants and potential new research students or fellows.

Frustrations:

The website needs to be clean whilst still portraying an air of friendliness and openness. The Lab mainly works with children and thus would like the site to feel welcoming and unintimidating to those of all ages and create the feeling of a safe space for one’s child.
