Week 6 – Fine Arts e-Media/Hybrid Lab (3/7/14)

Capture

For this week’s internship class, Nam and Ben gave us a  tour around the Fine Arts e-Media and Hybrid Lab SINC Sites. We learned about the uniqueness of these sites, in terms of location, software available, as well as different site procedures. Like the Physics SINC Site, both these labs are Mac only. There were also keyboards, tablets and speakers available. The Fine Arts SINC Sites are definitely very unique. Today, we also came upon the issue of responsibilities; the blurred line between AV and TLT. AV is responsible for the projectors, but there are times issues might arise where the problem might not be clear. It will be up to our best judgment to do what we can to resolve the issue and assign the issue to the proper department.

In addition, I was able to attend the makeup Blackboard class I missed last time with Erika. I have always used Blackboard as a student, but using it as a course builder was so much fun. Jennifer J. was very kind and walked us through the class step by step. We learned how to create content, change layouts, create and setup groups. It was very a helpful class. Also, Parth gave us a tour around the Math CoLA SINC Site on Thursday.

For mentor hours this week, I started to answer phone calls as well. Kayla asked Helen, who was also working in the Main Library SINC Site to call me as a user with different problems and I will try to resolve the issue. The first user I assisted was an OLLI member. This student was auditing a class and had difficulty maneuvering around the Blackboard site, such as, finding course page, downloading course documents, and locating the documents. I also explored the server room.
