Self-Defined–Two Optic Nerves

I inspired by the project II – perspective studies and Professor Hoi-Chung Leung’s presentation of ‘Seeing’ from the brain. For the final project, I’d like to explore the formation process of vision in the form of pictures.The visual system gives animals the ability to process the information from visible light,  and to build a representation of the surrounding environment.

The first image illustrates the effect of light rays enter the eye through the cornea. The cornea has the ability to bend the light rays in such a way that they pass freely through the pupil the opening in the center of the iris. By using coloured glazes as the cornea, the ocean as the vitreous and a source of  light reflections  to mimic the process of refraction.

We all know that the images formed on our retina are upside-down as the image below. My last image is  about the cornea and lens refract light into a small image and shine it on the retina. In this image, the sky, table  and mountains are upside down,and the mirror in the middle is the eye that helps us balance our vision.
