Hi everyone!

I’m CJ Severin and, unlike the rest of the class (I think?), I’m not in the English/Rhetoric department but from the Art History and Criticism MA program.  This is my first year back at Stony Brook since I graduating in 2015 from the Cinema and Cultural Studies program.  Last semester one of my two big projects was researching the politics and aesthetics of artists using cryptocurrencies (Bitcoin, Ethereum, etc.) in their work.  The other, more ongoing project, has been reading about, writing about, and making electronic music that makes use of an interconnected network of hardware and software.

I hope to continue learning about the applications and implications of digital platforms, networks, and software in this class and bring what I learn here into my work back in Art History world.
