In some of the areas where our organization works, the communities are so poor they do not have running water, electricity, indoor bathrooms or enough money to feed the family balanced meals. Not having enough for basic needs to sustain life such as food and water, healthcare often takes second place. Most of the community members do not have health insurance to help them pay for visits to a clinic, consultations with physicians and certainly not to purchase medications. Hope for a Healthier Humanity has started incorporating workshops on natural medicine where the participants learn about medicinal properties in local flowers and plants readily available in the geographic location. With instruction led by experts in the field, the participants learn how to make tonics/syrups, ointments and tea infusions that can be used as effectively as non prescription and over-the-counter medication.
