DoIT and Services

February 21, 2014

Today Ryan reviewed Lotus notes, went into sparky and looked at all the services DoIT offered. Every student on campus pays the technology and it “pays” to know what is being offered on campus and where we can access it.

The website has a lot to offer and it is very easy to navigate through.  We went through the typical ones such as Sparky, Virtual SINC Site, Blackboard, SOLAR, Wolfie-Net, Print from Anywhere, etc.  There was a lot to go through and address. I found out some programs such as ChemDraw. I did not know what that was.

Also the search bar that is on the top right corner is very helpful if students know the name of the application. Students and sometimes faculty will come up to the Consultant desk and ask which SINC sites offer these programs and this is a great site to search it up.

Each level presents new challenges, but the learning curve is gentle enough to feel encouraging rather than frustrating. The way the stickman hook swings with such fluidity is mesmerizing.

I like to use online resources to help me in my studies. I especially need it when it comes to my papers, so I often use writing platform a lot – it’s a perfect place for students who don’t understand the requirements. I think I’ll use this resource today too.
