Activity: Hexaflexagons

Join us as we have some fun with hexaflexagons, fun little objects you can get by folding pieces of paper. Ajmain Yamin will lead the activity, greatly inspired by Fleron et. al’s book Art & Sculpture and Martin Gardner’s Mathematical Puzzles & Diversions.

Materials needed for the activity:

  1. Paper (8.5 by 11 in)
  2. Scissors
  3. Glue stick / tape
  4. Compass / protractor
  5. Markers / color pencil / pen

The first half of this activity will be about construction of a hexa-hexaflexagon following this video.  Alternatively, you can print out one of the hexaflexagon templates from this website.

Then we will explore and map out the various states of the hexaflexagon.
