Starship Troopers is a very particular film series. Of the three live-action cinematic works the first one is objectively the best one. This film takes its plot from parts of the original novel but takes them in a different direction.

The film itself takes a very interesting idea throughout its entire story, the idea that “service guarantees citizenship”. The film itself is very well made and the special effects considering the time period this is made we’re very well done. With good acting and a good story-driven alongside said acting the film is very enjoyable to watch. The action is another good aspect of this film, many thrilling moments fill the movie and the appearance and concepts of the enemy forces faced by humanity in the film are excellently made. However, the film and the novel it is based off get a bad rap for promoting “fascist ideas”, this is not the case. The future depicted in the film and in the novel in no way a fascistic government. One criticism I have of the film is the characters in the film, excluding Rico, aren’t too developed as people, most just serve to push the plot through and for interactions with our main character Rico.

This film is an excellent watch in one that I recommend, personally I feel the film is a 7/10 and conveys an original and fascinating take on the future of humanity as a species.
