This work interrogates the viewers sense of performative patriotism in the face of state sanctioned violence and racial discrimination. By having the viewers outline become the ultimate patriotic symbol, the American flag, they are thereby actively covering up the realities of the current state of the American identity in hopes that they may ponder their roll in the fight against or the upholding of these racist systems.”
