As Time Goes By, 2020

My submission for Reckoning deals with the fractured beauty still present amidst the chaos, illness and social distancing surrounding Covid-19. This most recent foray into conceptual/video art with As Time Goes By is a welcome experiment within this transitional Covid-19 time in both my life, and that of the world around us. The dancers allow the true grit of spirit, underlying angst, human fragility and a symbolic translation of my recent past into present day spill forth from both sides of the camera lens as they twirl and become a symbol for hope or despair, a farewell, a tribute, or perhaps even a refusal to accept current circumstances. My personal experiences are told and exorcised through my works with no exception within this short film. Look inside and ask how you have been affected, how will you endure, and how would you want to say “Goodbye.”
