I am currently applying to dental school for the 2017-2018 cycle. Having the urge to make a difference in the world, I decided that the best career path for me would be dentistry. My trips to the dentist office have really shaped my career choice. Each time I keep visiting the dentist, I notice that there is an improvement in oral health. Oral health is an area that definitely requires more attention. It is an area that plays a significant role in leading a healthy lifestyle. There are many individuals out there in the world who either do not understand the importance of it, or have access to dental care. This is a major problem in the United States, and it is a problem that my parents faced also. They didn’t understand the importance of it, and those values were instilled in me as well. However, as I had the courage to schedule my first dental appointment, each subsequent appointment showed me that a change in the world is needed. This is why I wish to pursue dentistry.
