I have also been an active volunteer for Karisma NYC, an organization that hosts an annual charity showcase. This organization started in 2011 and was created by individuals who wanted to give back to the community through the arts. Until now, all proceeds (roughly $40,000) generated through this showcase have been donated to organizations such as the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, the Nepal Branch of Underprivileged Children’s Educational Programs, and the Himalayan Development Foundation.

I have played an active role in Karisma NYC since its inception and helped raise the proceeds. I have volunteered by selling tickets as well as by performing in this showcase. With each upcoming year, I increased my involvement in the organization. Last year, I became a member of the executive board as Stage Manager and served as the liaison between the performers and the lighting/sound professionals. I felt truly blessed to be able to help raise money for charity by helping lead an organization I cared so much about.
