The Thorne Lab

The Thorne Lab is a research lab in the School of Marine and Atmospheric Sciences at Stony Brook University. Our work focuses on understanding biological and oceanographic processes underlying spatial patterns in the habitat use and foraging ecology of marine predators (primarily marine mammals and seabirds). We use a combination of boat-based measurements, telemetry techniques, satellite data and spatial analyses to address ecological questions, and are primarily focused on issues with a direct application in conservation.
