The space I once resisted, Home 2018, is a piece from Grace Shin’s photographic series that recovers neglected memories and shadows in the artist’s life through the living space she shared with her grandparents and close family. Grace studies the times spent in loss, depression, sadness, joy, power, and love through her camera lens. “The space I once resisted and overlooked in times of loneliness, adolescence and comfort began to bloom into a precious and beautiful space.” Mainly since the quarantine in 2020, the concept of home has changed as life has drastically changed for people in the community, country and the world. The concepts of time, space, loss and other similar ideas from Home 2018 are explored and revisited in today’s world.
