The Thorne Lab
Stony Brook University
The Thorne Lab is a research lab in the School of Marine and Atmospheric Sciences at Stony Brook University. Our research focuses on understanding how environmental change influences marine ecosystems, with a focus on marine mammals and seabirds. We study how biological and environmental processes drive spatial patterns in the habitat use, foraging ecology and energetics of these species, and implications for predator-prey interactions. We use a combination of boat-based measurements, biologging techniques, global reanalyses and spatial approaches to address ecological questions, and are primarily focused on issues with a direct application in conservation.
