Who are we?

If you are interested in learning about the technology that Stony Brook provides for teaching & learning, then this blog is for you.

CELT’s Academic Technologists are here to share information with you about the services we provide.

Who are we?

Originally known as Instructional Computing Support (from 1985-2007),  under the direction of Nancy Duffrin, we have always been available to help both faculty & students with technology that is related to the academic mission of Stony Brook University.

In 2007, DoIT and the Provost office worked together to create Teaching, Learning + Technology (TLT)  .   Instructional Computing (SINC Sites/Blackboard)  and  Educational Technologies (Audio/Visual Classroom Services / Television Studios)  became part of TLT and the  The Faculty Center (Instructional Design/Assessment) was added.

In 2017, under the Direction of Patricia Aceves with the support of Melissa Woo (CIO) and Michael Bernstein (Provost),  TLT is now the Center for Excellence in Learning & Teaching (CELT)

Many of us are Stony Brook Alumni and we are all proud to be a part of Stony Brook.

We are here to help…and I encourage you to ask us.  If we cannot help you, we will do our best to find someone who can help

We look forward to working with you soon!
