This Wednesday (11/28), Dr. Craig Evinger will be joining the Neuroscience Axis to give an overview of this disease and explain recent findings in related neuroscientific research. Learn how Parkinson’s Disease affects a human brain and what treatments have been developed to alleviate the symptoms. Our GBM will be held on Wednesday 7-8pm in Life Sciences 038. We hope to see you there!

Research Seminar

Are you interested in research? Want to learn how you can join a lab and become a successful research assistant? Neuroscience Axis is here to help! We are very excited to announce our upcoming Research Seminar. This Wednesday (11/07) you will have a chance to network with Dr. Marvin O’Neal from the biology department and a number of amazing graduate students who will be joining us to share their perspective on science and give you advice on how you can get into your lab of interest. Learn about research opportunities at Stony Brook and find out what makes research experience so valuable. The seminar will take place this Wednesday, 7-9:30pm on the 2nd floor of the GLS Center and all majors are welcome! We hope to see you there!

Eighth GBM- Neuroscience of Fear

This Wednesday (10/31), the Neuroscience Axis is exploring fear and neural processes involved in the fear response. Join us this Halloween to learn what happens within our brain when we are afraid and how fear affects our body. Take a break from your studies and play trivia with us to win some candy! We hope to see you all on Wednesday 7-8pm in Life Sciences 038.

Are you interested in anthropology? Don’t really know what it is and what its potential applications are? This event is for you! This week, we will be collaborating with the Undergraduate Anthropology Society to go over the field of anthropology and several subfields, such as neuroanthropology and medical anthropology. Join us this week to learn more about anthropology on Wednesday, October 10th from 7-8PM in Life Science 038. We hope to see you there!

Fourth GBM- Electrophysiology

Are you interested in neuroscience but don’t know where to begin? Well, no problem! Come to Neuroscience Axis this week to learn about electrophysiology. We’ll be going over what electrophysiology is and how it relates to neuroscience. You can not only further your knowledge on this topic, but you can also learn what type of future, awaits for you, by pursuing a career related to this field. And to those, who already know what electrophysiology is, come to Neuroscience Axis to share and further your knowledge of electrophysiology. Come learn about neuroscience this Wednesday, October 3 from 7-8 pm in Life Sciences 038. Hope to see you there!

Third GBM- Basics of Neuroscience

Interested in Neuroscience?! Have no idea what it is?? Not a problem! Come learn about all the different aspects this Wednesday with Neuroscience Axis. We’ll be going over the basics and covering topics within neuroanatomy, neurology and electrophysiology. You’ll be able to gain an overview of neuroscience and expose yourself to the multitude of fields offered. Come learn about neuroscience this Wednesday, September 26 from 7-8 pm in Life Sciences 038. Hope to see you there!

Second GBM- Undergraduate Research Panel

Are you interested in getting involved in research on campus? Are you curious about the research experiences of undergraduates here at Stony Brook? Come to the Neuroscience Axis’ panel of undergraduate researchers, where you can learn more about how undergraduates get involved in research and their overall experiences from those who have a strong background in research!
