BioSciences Student Club Social

Hi everyone! This Monday, the Neuroscience Axis, SBYIR, Pre-Dental, Pre-Med, and Biochem societies are hosting the annual BioSciences Student Club Social. There will be games, free food and raffles where you will get the chance to win MCAT/GRE prep materials and more! You can also win the opportunity to pie a bio faculty or your friend in the face. Join us on Monday, March 4th from 7-9pm in SAC Ballroom A to show your support for the biosciences!

Resume Review

Hey guys! Since there will be a Healthcare, Research and Human Services Job and Internship fair this week on Friday, March 1st from 12-3PM, we will be having a resume review for those who are interested. We will be hosting Urszula Zalewski, the Director of Experiential Education who focuses on jobs in Healthcare and Medicine. Along with Psi Chi honors society, she and eboard members of the Neuroscience Axis will sit with you and give you tips on how you can improve your resume! Good luck and hope to see you there!

Neurology Panel

Are you interested in pursuing a career in medicine? Do you want to learn more about neurology and other related fields? The Neuroscience Axis is hosting a neurology panel, in which we will be asking neurologists about their careers and their paths to medicine. Join us on Wednesday, February 20th from 7-8PM in Life Sciences 038 to learn more about the field of neurology and medicine!

1st GBM

Hi everyone and welcome back! We hope your Spring Semester is off to a great start. We are hosting our first general body meeting this upcoming Wednesday, February 13th from 7 to 8pm in Life Sciences 038. Join us to find out more about our club, meet our eboard and learn about the neuroscience of love. We are also going to be at the Spring Involvement Fair from 1 to 2:30pm on Monday, February 11th in SAC Ballroom A. If you are interested in being a part of our club, stop by our table to talk to our eboard members and discover what Neuroscience Axis is. We are looking forward to seeing you all soon!

Last GBM

Come destress before finals with the Neuroscience Axis, this Wednesday (12/05)! We will be hosting an end of the semester meeting, and there will be pizza, in Life Sciences 038 from 7-8pm. We hope to see you there!

Parkinson’s Disease

Parkinson’s Disease is one of the most complex neurodegenerative disorders that exist today. This Wednesday (11/28), Dr. Craig Evinger will be joining the Neuroscience Axis to give an overview of this disease and explain recent findings in related neuroscientific research. Learn how Parkinson’s Disease affects a human brain and what treatments have been developed to alleviate the symptoms. Our GBM will be held on Wednesday 7-8pm in Life Sciences 038. We hope to see you there!

Research Seminar

Are you interested in research? Want to learn how you can join a lab and become a successful research assistant? Neuroscience Axis is here to help! We are very excited to announce our upcoming Research Seminar. This Wednesday (11/07) you will have a chance to network with Dr. Marvin O’Neal from the biology department and a number of amazing graduate students who will be joining us to share their perspective on science and give you advice on how you can get into your lab of interest. Learn about research opportunities at Stony Brook and find out what makes research experience so valuable. The seminar will take place this Wednesday, 7-9:30pm on the 2nd floor of the GLS Center and all majors are welcome! We hope to see you there!

Eighth GBM- Neuroscience of Fear

This Wednesday (10/31), the Neuroscience Axis is exploring fear and neural processes involved in the fear response. Join us this Halloween to learn what happens within our brain when we are afraid and how fear affects our body. Take a break from your studies and play trivia with us to win some candy! We hope to see you all on Wednesday 7-8pm in Life Sciences 038.

Seventh GBM- Advising Night

Are you starting to think about what classes to take next semester? Are you unsure about which professor to pick or what class combination to take on? Well then this GBM is perfect for you! This Wednesday (10/24) we will be helping out with class schedules and how to coordinate them. Since we have taken most of the classes that some of you will be signing up for, we can help you decide the best path for yourself. Come join us from 7-8 and pick your schedule for Spring 2018!

Sixth GBM- Neuroscience and Mental Health

This Wednesday (10/17), Neuroscience Axis is going to be discussing the importance of mental health among college students. This GBM will be filled with fun activities such as painting and clay modeling to help you de-stress and express yourself. Take a break from studying and join us on Wednesday 7-8pm in Life Sciences 038!
