Work Statement
This work is inspired by one of my many dreams. I was always fascinated by real life expeditions into unfamiliar territories full of strange landscapes and unnatural properties. Similarly, I want to explore dreams as a strange realm, one that is away from the safety of reality. We spend a third of our life sleeping, and a great portion of that time dreaming, yet we record little of it.
The Second Trip Home was a lucid dream I had in which I visited my hometown after many years away. The land and people became strange and unfamiliar, yet I accepted it and continued my visit. Like many of my dreams, it has a dark and claustrophobic perspective, therefore the panel is shaped to emphasize such.
Dreams have the capability of reflecting our inner thoughts; it is hypnotizing, both completely strange yet familiar. In dreams, ear and delight become more pure.
