Work Statement
A circular perspective painting that uses a zoomed in view of a large out of view wire mesh. Steel safety rails and the umbrella’s shade dominate the foreground of the piece. This forces the viewer to feel held back from the rest of the painting, by doing this I create an inception. This subtracts from the fact that the viewer is only a viewer. A painting that only makes them feel physically restricted from gaining a visual further experience.

Work Statement
These are paintings in first person perspective that involve varied forms of distortion. I exaggerate elements and perspectives in interesting compositional ways to create new perspectives in several different environments, at points tapping into near abstraction. The way I approach it mentally is similar to 2 bars with sliders on them. Playing with how much abstracted or representational something will be depicted and how much distortion to add or subtract.
In reality there are several natural perspectives that exist in common everyday life, as well as natural and common subject matter. However, I also want the audience to relate to the painting and feel like they are part of the painting. Perhaps the world may not be the most exciting place all the time, but if our physical view of it becomes more rare and distorted, perhaps feelings we get from it will as well.
