Work Statement

A self-portrait expressed through Brutalist architecture of the late 20th Century, Exterior examines attention and rigidity along an amalgamation of franticness. Buildings from Stony Brook’s main campus litter the scene, forcing a viewer to contend with their preexisting notions and the off-kilter interpretation shown in front of them. This dissonance keeps the eyes moving, glossing over the subtle details and harsh geometric transitions and instead blurring the image into a cycle of angsty intimidation.

I wish for this piece to overwhelm and still feel the slightest bit natural, entering the mind of one’s own vision of structure.
