StonyBrook Chamber Ensembles Success at Fischoff Competition

We’ve had an exciting few days here! Over the weekend, two groups represented Stony Brook at the 51st annual Fischoff National Chamber Music competition!

Please join us in congratulating the Hesper Quartet (members: SoHui Yun, Connor Kim, YeJin Yoon, Sojeong Kim), who won second prize in the Senior Strings Division and  the Voyager Reeds Quintet (members: Meghan Wojtyla, Nikhil Bartolomeo, Jarod Apple, Miguel Posadas, Timothy Hanley), who advanced to the semi-finals!

A big thank you to both of these groups for representing the string and wind department! We are Stony Brook proud and looking forward to what you accomplish in the future!

From Miguel Posadas (Voyager Reeds Quintet) regarding his experience at Fischoff:

“Fischoff was a positive and constructive experience! I thoroughly enjoyed the process of preparing for the competition and seeing it all pay off when we performed. We were fortunate enough to meet many of the judges who were down-to-earth and gave helpful feedback on how to improve our ensemble. What stuck out to me was how polite and supportive the other groups were. Overall, we had a fabulous time and look forward to going back and earning a spot in the finals!”
