Professor Judith Lochhead (Critical Music Studies) gave the keynote address for the Society of Music Theory’s annual meeting, held jointly with the American Musicological Society and the Society for Ethnomusicology. Entitled “Entanglements and Imperatives: Music Analysis Now,” Professor Lochhead’s talk—to a room filled with hundreds of conference attendees—addressed the urgent question of the role music scholarship might play in addressing the myriad existential challenges confronting us today.
